In this issue of Cul-de-sac, childhood friends Liz Mason and Julie Halpern focus on "past lives." By that we mean businesses that have closed, experiences we have relegated to memory, media we have put behind us (sort of. Do you ever really put it behind you?). I'm tempted to say it's a little punk rock Proust of us but I'm pretty sure Remembrance of Things Past didn't have a piece about dance battles in teen movies the way this zine does. Other pieces include: "Eulogy For the Bagel," "RIP Toys R Us," "I Broke Up Someone Because He Didn't Like The Matrix," "What It's Like to Go to A Supernatural (the TV show, Not Like Ghosts and Shit) Convention," "The Kindness of Strangers" and more.
